Call for Submissions – Valley Arts exhibition at Art Station

Are there any Colne Valley artists out there interested in having their work exhibited at Huddersfield train station? If, so you might like to take a look at this.

Art Station Update...

A nice new Art Station poster for 'Connections' (courtesy of Kevin Threlfall). It has little diagram at the bottom so you can see who invited who to take part in the exhibition.

Art Station Huddersfield - 'Connections' Exhibition

I was busy last night helping to get the 'Connections' exhibition set up at Huddersfield train station. It's part of the Art Station project designed to showcase the work of Kirklees artists, designers and creatives, and bring art to the commuters of Huddersfield (whether they like it or not :-)

It all went very well. We managed to get everything up on the walls in 3 hours, with just a few spaces left to fill. Carla Lee will be filling those spaces with her fabulous biro illustrations (that's illustrations using biros, not illustrations of biros!).

'Connections' features the work of the 7 volunteers (of which I am one) responsible for running the Art Station project, plus the work of 12 guest artists. I'm delighted to have as my guest artists Sophie Fodden and Kate Thornton.

The full list of artists is as follows:

Sylvie Gibbs
Mick Corton
Dionne Swift
Tony Chisolm
William Jordan
Robert Norbury
Jenny Parkin
Kevin Oakley
Sophie Fodden
Kate Thornton
Cath Brooke
David Foster
Jane Galvin
Andrew Warburton
Mark Milnes
Beverley Addy
Kevin Threlfall
Carla Lee
and Me

Here's a little taster of what to expect...

'Connections' runs until January 20th, 2013.

So, what was in the box?

What was in the box? It was the frame for the large "Raspberry Ripple" print that I did the other week (I did a smaller version of this for the 20:20 print exchange).

This is my contribution to the next Art Station exhibition at Huddersfield train station.

A Massive Box

This rather large box was just delivered to my door. I wonder what could be lurking inside?

Well, who'd have thought it :-)

I was thrilled to be commended at the Flourish Printmaking Award Ceremony tonight.

The winner was Sara Clark, with myself, June Russell and Moira McTague all being commended.

It feels like quite an achievement and it means a lot to me. Flourish was one of the things that inspired me to take up screen printing in the first place (to be specific, seeing Emma Lawrenson's solo show at Huddersfield Art Gallery). So to be a part of Flourish 2012 is really something special.
